A clinical psychologist with over 35 years of experience, I’ve had an opportunity to work with many people who were struggling to achieve comfort and success in public speaking. I couldn’t agree more that a key to conquering public speaking anxiety is to deliberately focus your attention on anything but yourself and your anxiety. The problem, however, is that remembering to do that consistently when you’re already a nervous wreck is easier said than done. My clients have had great success using a device I invented to enable people of all ages to AUTOMATICALLY keep their attention focused on whatever objective they choose. Called a MotivAider (http://habitchange.com), it’s a simple pager-like electronic device that uses a self-repeating private signal – a gentle pulsing vibration – to keep its user’s attention focused where it belongs.
